VeriAccount, LLC Business Management Services
Dear VeriAccount Clients,
In this month’s newsletter I wanted to bring light to the incorrect and inflated Covid related
medical bills people are facing and how to deal with these kinds of bills just in case you receive
them.
People Are Being Incorrectly Billed For Covid-19
Many people are being billed for Covid-19 services that are supposed to be free of charge under
the Families First Coronavirus Response Act and the CARES Act. Here is a quick rundown of
what is supposed to be free of charge:
● Private insurers cannot bill for Covid-19 vaccinations but may be able to charge for
COVID-19 testing. Medicare or Medicaid recipients can expect the same policy to be
applied to them. Please verify with your insurance company if they bill for Covid testing.
● If you are uninsured, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act and the CARES Act
provide funds to cover testing and vaccination costs for providers, however, you may be
placed on a waitlist to receive either service.
When to Use a Medical Billing Advocate
Here are some signs from Elizabeth Davis, RN at verywellhealth.com that might help you decide
to hire a medical bill advocate.
● You don’t understand your medical bills, and the explanations given by your providers
don’t make sense.
● Your health insurance is refusing to pay part or all of your medical bills and is giving you
the run-around.
● The hospital billing office (or doctor’s billing service) is blaming things on your health
insurance company, and your health insurance company is blaming the same things on
your hospital (or doctor’s office). Thus, you’re stuck in the middle, holding the bill.
● You’re overwhelmed with medical bills that you can’t possibly pay and you’re considering
bankruptcy because of them.
● You’re so sick you no longer have the energy to deal with the volume of paperwork
required to manage your medical bills and health insurance coverage, but you don't want
family or friends to have to do it for you.
● You’re responsible for managing the medical bills of someone else (perhaps an elderly
parent) and either can’t make sense of them or are overwhelmed by what’s involved with
keeping track of them.
I hope that you found this month’s newsletter informative! If you are interested in medical billing
advocacy or any of our advocate and fraud detection services, please make sure to contact us
for more information on how our services might be able to help you!
Sincerely,
Queretta Simms, CEO & Founder of VeriAccount
